Better Jobs

As your Supervisor, I work everyday to create jobs in Russell County and Southwest Virginia. As a successful businessman, I know that thriving communities are anchored by good paying jobs. By working with the business community both here, and in other parts of the Commonwealth, we can help bring better-paying jobs right here to our backyard, where people need them the most.

Education

Providing a high-quality education for our children is one of the most important things we can do as parents and as citizens. Fortunately, we have a wonderful array of colleges and universities in Virginia. I know that to compete in the globalized, 21st century economy with kids from developing world such as China and India, our own children will need a world-class education. I understand that to do this, we must make a commitment to invest resources in our children to give them the tools to make this happen.

Energy and the Environment

Energy and the environment are subjects that are very much on peoples’ minds these days — and with good reason. I believe we need to take a balanced but aggressive approach to our energy challenges. Such an approach has been sorely lacking in recent years, and is at the root cause of many of the problems we face today. I advocate investing in renewable energy alternatives like wind, tidal, solar, and geothermal.

Good Government

I will fight to make sure our government works for you. I understand and believe that state and local government has a responsibility to you as taxpayers to work efficiently and tirelessly. As such, I will work to make sure that Russell County sets the example in government transparency and accountability.
