My views and record this week on: INFRASTRUCTURE & GOVERNMENT

INFRASTRUCTURE Investments and Improvements:

• Continue to improve public safety on primary and secondary roads systems throughout the county.


• Expand potable and fire protection water systems throughout the county in a cost-effective manner.


• Construct sewer system(s) to foster economic growth and improve environmental initiatives.


• Ensure that more last mile fiber optic network(s) and cell phone service towers are installed to significantly improve county-wide coverage.


• Accelerate the conversion of our old trash dump and collection sites to user friendly compaction sites to be safer, save money and be more aesthetically pleasing.


• Persuade Washington, Richmond and VDOT to increase funding for road projects in Russell County and throughout SWVA. 

GOVERNMENT - Make sure it works for you:

• Led efforts to make our county government more efficient.


• Proposed the combining of the County PSAs to save money and provide more cost effective services.


• Projected several consolidations of county and third-party contractual services to reduce total expenses to the citizens of Russell County and save money.


• Posted BoS agendas, minutes, budgets and supervisor packets online to promote a more open government.


• Pushed for and then help implement a county web-site for better communications to any and all county residents and interested parties.


• Made a motion annually to hold one regular Board of Supervisors Meeting in each Magisterial District to ensure more county residents the opportunity to both participate and see their government face to face - bring government to the people.
