Meet Jon

Jon Bowerbank’s family moved to the United States from England when he was 11 years old in order to seek out their piece of the American Dream. Like millions before them, they believed that this was a land of opportunity, and wanted to give their children more than they had.

After receiving his education in business and engineering, Jon went to work for a Fortune 10 company, which eventually led him to Southwest Virginia. There, having found the perfect place to lay down roots and start a family, Jon started his own energy management company out of his garage.  Through hard work, EMATS, Inc. went from a small operation, to a company of over 200 employees in numerous states.

Jon learned the work ethic that has allowed him to achieve success from his father, who believed that if you thought you were done working, you simply hadn’t looked hard enough. After leaving home, Jon continued to gain inspiration from his educators and coaches, who taught him to never quit, treat everyone the same, be disciplined, and to learn as much-if not more-from the hard times as from the good.

In 2007, Jon decided to bring his business savvy and leadership to politics. Feeling that he could give back to the County, which had given him so much, Jon ran, and won a seat on the Russell County Board of Supervisors, where he currently serves as the At-Large Representative.

In addition to the Russell County Board of Supervisors, Jon serves on countless local and statewide boards, including the State Library Board, The Virginia Association of Counties and the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority.

In 2003 Jon started the Bowerbank Foundation, which seeks to provide youth with opportunities in High School so that they may go on to excel in College. Since its inception, the foundation has given more than $100,000 to schools in Michigan, Wyoming, and Virginia to help support athletic and educational initiatives.

Jon lives in Rosedale, Virginia with his wife Deneen, and his three children Phillip, Sean Thomas and Tori.
